Nerdy Nummies rox!

by Madeline Laughs

For some reason I became addicted to Nerdy Nummies cooking videos. The host, Rosanna Pansino, makes all kinds of cakes and cookies based on video games and popular teen movies.

Her delivery totally captivates me and kids love her too!

This colorful Unicorn Rainbow cake is HUGE! And very colorful!

In this video they make mushroom pops from Super Mario Brothers. They end up having a terrible mess with some of them and it is hysterical!

Unconcealing

The wet weather made them sad,  and their sadness made them more attentive.

So you don’t have to suffer for your art, you just need to get yourself into a depressed state before you begin to create it. Apparently you pay more attention when you are bummed out. Probably to further flaws.

Someone said to me recently that everyone sees the flaws first, it’s just rude to point it out. I disagree. First of all some people never see the flaws, they are focused on what is right about the thing or the situation instead of what is wrong. Secondly it’s usually simple force of habit, not an actual conscious choice. But most of all not to point it out would be a lie. For me to sit in your face thinking this or that and not bothering to tell you is a bit two-faced for my taste.    Continue reading

How to Create a Password

by Regyna Longlank

How to create a password you will remember and no one else can easily discover.  This has become an issue for anyone working in computers with a secure network.  Needing to change your password frequently compounds the problem, leaving even those with excellent memories sitting at their computer staring dumbly at the screen wishing their brain turned on as easily.  Fear not, I have the solution, at least one that works really well for me.

Make up a sentence.  I love Madeline Laughs, she is the best blogger ever! for example.  Now take the first letter of each word, count up the words, and you have your letters and numbers, in this case ILMLSITBBE10! because I kept the exclamation point too.  Not all networks will accept a nonalphanumeric, however some require it.  At any rate, then I can print out a little picture of Madeline’s blog, hang it near my desk, and I’m golden.  No sticky note under my mouse pad, yes everyone knows you put it there.  Nothing written down anywhere that someone could use to crack my code.  Brilliant!

There has to be a System

I love to do laundry. Not many people can say that, but I genuinely do.

I like to use my favorite products when I do laundry. I use all of the Mrs. Meyers Clean Day Earth-friendly laundry products in either Lavender or Rose Geranium scent. This makes washing clothes a real pleasure. I use her laundry detergent and dryer sheets and my laundry room smells like Nirvana. I use her products because I enjoy the scent, but also because they don’t contain harsh, caustic chemicals, so they’re safe for everyone in our home, including me.  Continue reading

Surviving OBX Summers

by Madeline Laughs

I love the beach and the beach loves me!

Summertime on the OBX brings new challenges for the local dweller. There are adjustments to be made. We rearrange our schedules, work on our smiles and feed our patience. There are places we can no longer go and things we will give up. And we do it all in the name of someones vacation.

Along with making allowances in our daily lives, the young, single crowd become the Townies. Just like in the movie Mystic Pizza, folks will fall in love, long distance romance will be considered and hearts will eventually get broken. But sometimes true love prevails :) You just never know!

So what is an Outer Banker to do in order to survive the summer?  Continue reading
